Cydney McFarland is an editor, reporter, photographer and social media manager for the Peninsula Daily News at its Jefferson County office in Port Townsend, WA. She is committed to informing the public and covers a variety of topics affecting the local community from local government to environmental issues.
Cydney was previously a reporter specializing in features and in-depth projects at the Idaho State Journal in Pocatello, ID. She is also an experienced photographer, aspiring videographer and part time blogger.
Cydney graduated Cum Laude with a B.A. in Journalism and Mass Communication from the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Barrett, the Honors College at Arizona State University in May 2015.
She worked on an international reporting project in Nicaragua with the Cronkite School’s Borderlands initiative, studied religion and Arabic in Morocco and runs a travel blog, which she created during her junior year abroad to fulfill her honors thesis requirement.
